On May 14, at 10:28 p.m., the report of an armed robbery was called in to the Calvert County Control Center. Members of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 21 Church Street Prince Frederick, the site of Domino’s Pizza. An employee of Domino’s reported that he was pushing a trash dumpster to the alley behind the Prince Frederick Shopping Center when he was approached by a black male who was pointing a gun yelling “Get on the ground, give me your money!” The victim advised he did as was told and an undetermined amount of money was taken from him.
The suspect then got into the passenger side of a vehicle and fled the scene toward Duke Street. A witness observed a small, red vehicle fleeing the scene. A vehicle matching the description was observed parked in front of a home on Harriet Tubman Drive in Prince Frederick.
Subsequent investigation by members of the Criminal Investigative Team resulted in the arrest of two men, Stephen James Covington, 23 of Temple Hills and Marcus Dwayne Spencer, 26 of St. Leonard.
Both men were taken before a District Court Commissioner where they were each charged with armed robbery, first-degree assault and second-degree assault and held on $100,000 bond. No one was injured during the robbery.
