The St. Maryโs County Department of Public Works & Transportation has completed a review and drafted an update of the May 4, 2010 Stormwater Management, Grading, Erosion and Sediment Control Ordinance. The majority of the proposed text amendments are minor and will reflect current streamlining initiatives, ensure consistency with current practice(s), add needed clarification, and reduce redundancy between other ordinances.
The document also includes revised erosion and sediment control regulations from the Stateโs Model Ordinance and the reference to the updated 2011 Maryland Standards and Specifications for Soil Erosion and Sediment Control, adopted by the Maryland Department of the Environment on January 27, 2012, mandating local ordinance inclusion by January 9, 2013.
The draft document is available for viewing on the Countyโs Information and Forms webpage at http://www.stmarysmd.com/Formsanddocuments.asp (listed under the Public Works and Transportation heading) and is titled Draft 2012 Stormwater Management, Grading, Erosion and Sediment Control Ordinance Update. For ease of reference, a corresponding Summary of Changes document has also been posted.
The document will remain on the County website for a minimum of thirty (30) days in an effort to obtain initial public comment and feedback, especially from the local development, surveying and engineering communities. The Department will compile all public comments received and will recommend a final draft to the Board of County Commissioners for consideration in scheduling of a formal Public Hearing.ย
