At 8:37 a.m. Dec. 24, TFC M. Laney was working a stationary speed detail on Route 235 at Rescue Lane, Hollywood, when a vehicle was observed to be exceeding the posted 55 mph speed limit.
With the use of LASER a speed of 82 mph was obtained. The vehicle was stopped and the driver and passenger were identified. An odor of burnt marijuana was detected emitting from the vehicle.
A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and a partially burnt hand rolled marijuana cigarette was found in the ash tray, the officer reports.
A probable cause search was conducted on the driver and passenger also, and he located in the passenger’s pants pocket was a small bag containing marijuana.
The passenger, Alfred Lewis Jones, 31, of Lexington Park admitted that the bag of marijuana and the marijuana cigarette was his.
Jones was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. He was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held pending a bail review. The driver was issued a traffic citation and released at the scene.
