The Charles County Juvenile Drug and Family Recovery Court are alternative court programs operating in the Circuit Court for Charles County, Maryland.ย  These courts address matters that are under the courtโ€™s jurisdiction through a multidisciplinary and integrated approach that incorporates collaboration between courts, government, and community organizations. Drug courts strive to build strong community partnerships and enhance the capacity of these partners to assist in the rehabilitation of substance-abusing youth and adults.

The Drug Courts Steering Committee, in conjunction with the Pastor John Lewis and Point of Change Ministries, held the 2nd annual fundraiser to benefit drug court participants on August 9, 2012 at the Holiday Inn Express in La Plata. As the Drug Court Coordinator, I would like to extend my gratitude to the Steering Committee Members; the Holiday Inn Express, that generously provided the banquet room, tables, staff and equipment necessary to support the event; and the guest speaker, Former Redskinโ€™s Guard, Rod Milstead, who did a wonderful job relating his career experiences to the audience. I would also like to thank the Christ Tabernacle Church Ministries, Prayer of Faith Ministries, New Life Church, and Servants of Christ Ministries, who generously provided wait staff and a wonderful meal for the event.ย  Attendees were entertained by spiritual musical selections performed by Jade Lewis and Beverly Johnson and inspired by drug court participantsโ€™ success stories.
