At 1:10 a.m. July 17, Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Officer D. Major conducted a traffic stop in the 11500 block of Berry Road in Waldorf on a Ford van for displaying tags issued to another vehicle.

Officer Major discovered the driver, Tommy Stanley Herbert, 41, of Waldorf, was also driving on a suspended license and was wanted by the Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Herbert was subsequently arrested.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers discovered about 300 pirated DVDs and CDs. The DVDs included movies currently in theaters.

Herbert and his passenger, Jamal Ray Herbert, 20, of Washington, D.C., were charged with several criminal offenses relating to their possession of counterfeit items. They were being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. Officer D. Major investigated.
