The North Point Eagles girls hoops team traveled to โ€˜The Birdcageโ€™ in Leonardtown to face the Lady Raiders last night. The Eagles came into the game at 9-3 with their only losses coming in close matchups with highly ranked opponents and three players who have already signed letters of intent to play at various division one colleges next year.

Leonardtown started the game with injuries to three major players on their team and fought a tough battle before losing 60-43. The Lady Raiders played well in the first half and led at the end of the first quarter 18-17 behind the hot 3-point shooting of senior point guard Dani McLaughlin who hit four straight from long range to start the game.

North Point led 35-28 at the half, then Robin Parks (18 points) and Tasha Butler (14 points) took over, as the constant full court pressure was too much for the Raiders. The hard work under the boards was done by Sara Overs and Heather Wood for Leonardtown.

Overs was named the Papa Johnโ€™s Player of the Game for the Raiders with 16 points. Parks was named the North Point Player of the game.

The game was heard on Baynet Radio as we have started our regular season coverage. The next broadcast will be tomorrow night with a big county rivalry with the Chopticon boys heading to Great Mills. Coverage begins at 7 p.m.
