Arrest in southern Maryland

EDGEWATER, Md. – A robbery suspect brandishing a hammer made off with a cash register after threatening an employee inside a Subway restaurant in Edgewater Tuesday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched to the scene at 196 Mayo Road shortly after 4 p.m. on May 13, 2025, where they learned that a male suspect had entered the store and demanded money. When the employee refused, police say the suspect pulled out a hammer and issued a threat.

The suspect then forcibly removed the entire cash register before fleeing the scene in a white four-door sedan. No injuries were reported.
