Annual awards were presented Tuesday by the St. Mary’s County Historic Preservation Commission. The award ceremony was hosted by the St. Mary’s County Commissioners during their regular meeting. St. Mary’s County Historic Preservation Planner Grace Mary Brady announced the eight awardees who each came up to accept the awards from commission members and the county commissioners. The awardees are:.
1) Dr. Julia King received a service award for all her work in publishing the Slack Water series.
2) Dr. and Mrs. James Clifton received a service award for the Foxwood Farm Archaeological Exploration project.
3) Admiral Gus Eggert received a project award for his work at the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum (His son Frank accepted this award on behalf of Admiral Eggert)
4) Mrs. Elizabeth “Beth’ C McCoy received a posthumously lifetime achievement award for years of historic preservation…..her daughter Muffin Padukiewicz and son Mark accepted on behalf of the family.
5) St. Mary’s County Historical Society received a service award for 60 years of publishing the Chronicles of St. Mary’s.
