After hearing endless discussions on theย Sundayย morning โ€œtalk shows,โ€ and beyond, it seems that even some of theย Mondayย Morning Quarterbacks are saying they wouldnโ€™t have changed a thing on Benghazi; itโ€™s nobodyโ€™s fault, thatโ€™s just the way things were set up. And thatโ€™s the really scary part. On an anniversary date of 9/11, it is becoming apparent that there was, in fact, no back-up policy in place for our diplomats. To paraphrase a famous catch-phrase from the movieย Ghostbusters, โ€œ..whoโ€™re you gonna call?โ€ And the sad answer is: no one. There was no one to call.

Iโ€™ve had immediate response from our local county police department when Iโ€™ve needed to call them for relatively minor neighborhood events throughout the 27 years that Iโ€™ve lived here and never once heard the excuse, โ€œWell, lady, we canโ€™t really assess your situation over the phone so we donโ€™t know whether to send out a single officer in a patrol car or whether we need to scramble a helicopter or two, so let us get back to you tomorrow.โ€ That would be no way to run a railroad. But it is looking more and more as if we abandoned our U.S. contacts in Benghazi. And it does, indeed, make a difference, Mrs. Clinton.

-The next Youth Political Round Table Discussion, sponsored by the St. Maryโ€™s County Republican Central Committee, will be held onย Monday, May 20ย fromย 7 to 9 p.m.ย in the Leonardtown Volunteer Rescue Squad Buildingโ€™s Conference Room. (Refreshments will be provided). This Discussion welcomes all viewpoints from those ages 16 through 24. Theย May 20ย meeting will showcase a video produced by Leonardtown High School students regarding what they seek in a candidate, and what their thoughts are on a variety of social issues. Also scheduled that same evening will be special guest speakers including St. Maryโ€™s County Commissioner Todd Morgan (who will discuss sequestration), Charles Lollar (chairman of New Day Maryland), and Fiona Moodie (president of the College Republicans).

This recently-formed Youth Political Round Table program has been effective and beneficial thus far as it encourages high school and college populations to explore a more active role in the political process; it allows those in this age group to have a voice and to help others understand their interests and concerns.
