WALDORF, Md. – The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating an incendiary fire that was started at the JCPenny Department Store in Waldorf on the evening of April 12.
Around 5:30 p.m., a customer discovered a fire located in the bath towel section of JCPenny. An employee responded quickly and extinguished the fire before the sprinkler and smoke alarm systems could activate. Only three bath towels were damaged from the incident.
The Office of the State Fire Marshal has reason to believe the cause of the fire to be incendiary.
