
Hollywood, MD โ On August 15 around 12:35 p.m., extreme police presence was observed at the Phillip J. Bean Medical Center due to a call-in report of a gunman. This report has not yet been confirmed. However, police are currently investigating.
At 2:40 p.m., TheBayNet reached out to St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office for an update on the incident, and there was no immediate official response.ย
At 4:31 p.m., Jennifer Stone with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office released the following statement regarding the incident:ย
On August 15, 2016, St. Maryโs County Sheriffโs Office deputies responded to the Philip J. Bean Medical Center for the report of a man with a gun. A witness believed a man pulled out a gun in the lobby of the medical center, holstered it and then walked away. Numerous units arrived on scene, secured the medical center, and further investigation determined the report to be unfounded. The investigation confirmed the alleged gun was a cellphone.
