At 2:26 A.M. on June 19, 2011, emergency crews from Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department Co. 1, Leonardtown Volunteer Rescue Squad Co. 19, Second District Volunteer Fire Department Co. 6 EMS, Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department Co. 7, Hollywood Volunteer Rescue Squad Co. 79, and St. Maryโ€™s Advance Life Support were alerted for the t-bone style motor vehicle collision with subjects trapped and one unconscious, possibly not breathing on the 24000 block of Point Lookout Road in front of Leonardtown Middle School. Squad 1 and Truck 1 from Co. 1, Ambulance 199 from Co. 19, Ambulance 67 from Co. 6, Squad 7 from Co. 7, Ambulance 797 from Co. 79, and Medic 3 from SMALS responded to the scene. Truck 1 arrived on scene and requested a helicopter for a high priority transport to a trauma center resulting in Trooper 6 being dispatched along with Engine 73 to establish the landing zone. Crews immediately went to work to extricate the trapped patients as additional unit continued to arrive on scene. Shortly after, the helicopter was cancelled due to the high priority patient succumbing to their injuries. Emergency crews transported three patients to St. Maryโ€™s Hospital. Crews operated on scene for a total of 40 minutes with Truck 1 remaining on scene for 2 hours and 53 minutes while law enforcement conducted an investigation.

UPDATE: POLICE REPORT

On 06/19/11 at approximately 2:26 AM a 1996 Mitsubishi 3000 GT, being operated by Victoria Elizabeth Monaco (25) of Lusby, MD, failed to stop for a flashing red signal at the intersection of Point Lookout Road and Medleys Neck Road.ย  As the vehicle entered Point Lookout Road, it traveled into the path of a 1999 Honda Accord, operated by Craig Wesley Norton (40) of Lexington Park, which was traveling southbound on Point Lookout Road.ย ย Norton did not sustain any injuries and theย three passengers of Norton’s vehicle were transported to St Mary’s Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.ย  Monaco succumbed to her injuries on scene prior to being transported to the hospital.ย  Alcohol is not believed to be a factor and the case is being investigated by the Sheriffโ€™s Office Crash Reconstruction Team.ย  Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact Dfc.
