On Sept. 2, around 12:40 a.m., troopers from the La Plata Barrack responded to Northbound Route 5 at Old Route 5 in Hughesville for a personal injury accident involving a motorcycle ( 07 Green Kawasaki Ninja MD 2D7183).
Investigation revealed the motorcycle was traveling N/B on Route 5 at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control and struck a guardrail. The driver 24, of Waldorf, was pronounced deceased on the scene. At this time speed is being considered as a factor. The crash victim has not yet been identified pending family notification.
This accident remains under investigation.
