Prince Frederick, MDย – The Yuletide season got started in Calvert County five days before Thanksgiving as Calvert Hospice hosted its Second annual Festival of Wreaths. The 2017 event was held Saturday, Nov. 18 at Calvert High School, utilizing the schoolโs cafeteria and atrium.
Decorated wreaths were donated by local businesses and put on sale. Calvert Hospice Director of Development Claire Piason said most of the wreaths had been sold during the early hours of the event. The festival also included a wreath-making workshop, childrenโs crafts, live musical entertainment and, of course, Santa Claus.
Admission to the Festival of Wreaths was free. Very reasonably priced food was available thanks to the amazing chefs at Calvert Crabs. In addition to their new location at Central Square in Prince Frederick, Calvert Crabs has a food trailer.
The Festival of Wreaths is a spinoff of the local hospiceโs previous holiday extravaganza called โFestival of Trees,โ which was held for 27 years and held Thanksgiving weekend. During its long history, Festival of Trees was held at several different venues.
