The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says a faulty furnace was the cause of a fire Tuesday at a home on Golden Beach Road in Mechanicsville. Loss to the home owned by Thomas Boarman is estimated at $100,000 to the structure and $25,000 to the contents.
It took 45 volunteer firefighters from Mechanicsville, Hughesville, Leonardtown, Bay District, Hollywood and Prince Frederick 30 minutes to bring the fire under control.
According to Deputy Fire Marshall Don Brenneman, “There were no reported injuries to the firefighters or occupants of the house and the occupants were displaced as a result of the fire.”
According to a release from the State Fire Marshal’s Office there were no smoke alarms or sprinkler systems available in the single-family house.
