Chesapeake Beach, MD – A boat located at a Chesapeake Beach marina was damaged by a fire which is still under investigation, state officials reported.
According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, the blaze occurred Wednesday, Dec. 10 shortly before midnight.
“The fire completely destroyed the boat, which was out of the water on the marina lot,” stated Dfm. John Nelson. The location, Marina West, is on Gordon Stinnett Avenue.
Ten firefighters from the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to the scene and brought the flames under control in 15 minutes. There were no injuries. Nelson said the damage is estimated at $8,000. Authorities have not determined who owned the boat.
Nelson reported the fire originated inside the boat.
