INDIAN HEAD, Md. – On March 7, 2021 at approximately 10:12 p.m., fire and rescue personnel was alerted to the structure fire at 5200 Rivers Edge Place, an abandoned mansion.
Firefighters arrived to find the mansion showing fire from one side.
A total of 40 firefighters arrived to the scene and had the fire under control in about 40 minutes.
The home was vacant at the time of the fire. There were no injuries as a result of the fire.
The state fire marshal determined in the investigation that the fire started in the ball room, the cause remains unknown at this time.
The owner of the property is Lanwan, LLC. The estimated structure loss is approximately $100,000.00.

This is the second major fire they have fought at this location; the first one being a few years ago.
