PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — A fast-moving fire that started on a back deck spread into a home and threatened nearby woods Tuesday afternoon in Prince Frederick, prompting a large emergency response.
The fire was reported around 2:14 p.m., May 5, 2026, on North Cassell Boulevard.
Firefighters arriving on scene found heavy flames coming from a second-level deck of a 1.5-story Cape Cod-style house, with fire rapidly extending into the back of the home and into the eaves. Crews also reported the fire spreading toward a wooded area behind the property.
An aggressive interior attack was launched as firefighters worked to contain the blaze. Fire had extended into the walls, leading crews to open portions of the roof for ventilation.
A primary search of the second floor was completed as crews pushed inside. Command reported the fire had been largely knocked down, though firefighters remained on scene working to ventilate the structure and check for hidden hot spots.
At the height of the incident, heavy fire conditions were concentrated on the back deck, with more limited extension into the main portion of the home. Crews also worked to stop the fire from advancing further into the woods.
No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
