WHITE PLAINS, Md. — Firefighters responded to a working townhouse fire Wednesday afternoon in White Plains, bringing the blaze under control shortly after arriving on scene.

At approximately 1:34 p.m. on March 11, 2026, emergency crews were dispatched to the 10700 block of Esprit Place for a reported structure fire. The incident was quickly upgraded to a working fire response.

Units arriving on scene deployed hose lines to the front of the home while additional crews worked along the rear of the structure where fire conditions were more visible. Command also requested Washington Gas to respond after firefighters reported a gas tank located on the rear of the property.

Firefighters advancing inside the home reported heavy fire conditions extending toward the attic area, with flames visible through the roof along the rear of the structure.

Crews stretched additional hose lines to the second floor while conducting primary searches of the residence. Firefighters reported that primary searches of both the second floor and the remainder of the home were negative, confirming no occupants were inside.

Additional units were assigned to check nearby exposures and prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring homes.

Firefighters worked inside the structure and opened up portions of the building to locate remaining hot spots. Crews later reported conditions inside the home had improved and the fire was brought under control.

No injuries were reported.

Multiple fire and rescue units responded to the scene and remained on location while overhaul operations continued. The cause remains under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
