The seventh Cracker Barrel in Maryland and the first in St. Maryโ€™s County will open for business at 6 a.m. on Labor Day. The unique restaurant/gift shop chain was founded in Lebanon, TN in 1969 and now has more than 600 stores around the country.

Although most Cracker Barrels are located along interstates, the company has recently begun to roll out the stores in other high traffic locations. Maryland Route 235 in St. Maryโ€™s County easily meets those criteria. The new restaurant has three other restaurant neighbors: Olive Garden, Red Robin and Texas Roadhouse

The company has more than 67,000 employees. Each unit averages 6,700 guests per week and averages more than $4 million in annual sales. Cracker Barrel is known for its partnerships with country music artists and has received attention for it charitable activities, including assistance to victims of Hurricane Katrina and injured war veterans.

Although the California location was not yet officially open, the store hosted community leaders for a breakfast on Friday morning. The storeโ€™s managers and company representatives then gathered for a ribbon cutting.
