La Plata, MD – Five people were injured in a two-vehicle collision that occurred Sunday evening, April 30 on La Plata Road, police reported. According to the Charles County Sheriffโs Office, at approximately 9 p.m. a vehicle driven by a 72-year-old Waldorf man was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of La Plata Road. That vehicle collided with a westbound vehicle driven by a man from Swan Point.
Charles County Sheriffโs Office spokeswoman Janelle Love told TheBayNet.com that the driver and two passengers in the vehicle that was traveling in the wrong direction were flown to a regional trauma center. All three motorists were reported in critical but stable condition. The driver and front seat passenger of the other vehicle were both transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Love said the sheriffโs office Traffic Operations Unit is investigation the crash. La Plata Road from Charles Street to Radio Station Road was closed for approximately four hours following the crash.
