Maryland’s Best has highlighted a variety of popular ice cream shops and farms that make their delicious desserts with local dairy milk, and even hiking trails are being added into the icy mix.

Farms that sell ice cream and shops that create their products with local milk are both being highlighted in the Maryland’s Best Ice Cream Trail. Better yet, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources is entering a partnership with Maryland’s Best in order to spread the word about the beautiful hiking trails that are situated near each creamery.

On a warm summer day, few activities are better than taking a stroll down a paved path in the Maryland wilderness, and now you can add a scoop or two of ice cream to sweeten the outdoor adventure.

In addition to the scrumptious ice cream and scenic trails, Maryland’s Best has created a free-to-use digital pass to collect points and help you remember which locations you’ve visited in 2026. You can also find a printout for the pass on this webpage if you’d rather disconnect from the digital world during your ice cream expedition.

How To Win Free Prizes On The Ice Cream Trail

Participants who follow the Ice Cream Trail can earn some small rewards or put the points toward a chance to collect the grand prize. You’ll find pins at each of the shops and trails, which are located around cash registers and trailheads at each participating location.

Visiting every on-farm creamery by Labor Day, which can all be found here, affords you the chance to enter to win the Maryland’s Best Trailblazer Champion award. If you hike through all of the trails, then you can also enter for a chance of winning a state park pass, the ultimate reward for a dedicated hiker!
