Anne Arundel County, MD — Four Anne Arundel County Public Schools students are among the semi-finalists for a National Merit Scholarship.
The four are among 16,000 students nationwide vying for 7,600 scholarships worth more than $31 million in tuition money. The finalists were selected from 1.5 million high school juniors from 21,000 high schools who had high scores on the 2018 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
About 90 percent of the semifinalists will advance to finalist status based on criteria such as academic record, recommendation by school principal, SAT performance, and participation and leadership in school and community activities.
Winners will be announced in February.
