
SEVERN, Md. — Four men were taken into custody after a traffic stop led to the discovery of firearms, drugs, and a sizable amount of cash in Severn, Maryland on March 21, 2024.
At approximately 6:20 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a silver Infiniti in the area of Severn Road and Severn Tree Boulevard. Upon stopping, one of the passengers attempted to evade officers on foot but was quickly apprehended. He was found to be carrying a loaded Glock 17 handgun concealed in his waistband.
The driver, identified as 21-year-old Tony Jerome Curtis of Baltimore, was found to be in possession of approximately 1.28 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms and a loaded Polymer 80 handgun, also concealed in his waistband. Curtis has been charged with possession of a firearm without a serial number, carrying a loaded handgun both on his person and in the vehicle, and possession of controlled substances.
In the passenger compartment of the vehicle, officers discovered a .223 caliber Ruger AR 556 loaded with 28 rounds of ammunition. Additionally, $3,421.00 in U.S. currency was seized from the vehicle.
The other occupants of the vehicle, Robert Lawrence Hughes III, 19, of Severn, Chase Montgomery Nielsen, 20, of Hanover, and Joshua Demetrius Lloyd Davis, 19, of Hanover were also arrested.
Hughes faces charges of carrying a loaded handgun both on his person and in the vehicle, possession of a firearm as a minor, failure to obey a reasonable/lawful order, disturbing the peace/disorderly conduct, obstructing & hindering, and malicious destruction of property valued under $1,000.
Nielsen has been charged with carrying a loaded handgun both on his person and in the vehicle, possession of a firearm as a minor.
Davis’s charges have not been disclosed yet.
All four suspects are currently being held without bond.

You’re right! Our current group of legislators just wrote a law adding an 11% tax to firearms and accessories, including ammunition. That will keep those criminals at bay! We should all feel safer come October!
