UPDATE – 95-Year-Old Man Killed In Four-Vehicle Crash On Route 4, Two Airlifted With Serious Injuries
LUSBY, Md — A serious crash involving four vehicles shut down both directions of Route 4 at Coster Road in Lusby on Friday, Aug. 15, 2025, leaving one person dead and prompting a medevac response.
The crash occurred around 3:50 p.m. in the southbound lanes, where emergency crews found at least one person trapped inside a vehicle. Firefighters worked to free the patient while authorities established a landing zone for a Maryland State Police helicopter.
Northbound lanes reopened around 6 p.m., but southbound Route 4 remained closed into the evening as the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit investigated.
The sheriff’s office confirmed one fatality at the scene.
Motorists were urged to avoid the area during the investigation, which caused significant traffic delays along the busy highway.

With zero enforcement from law enforcement accidents will continue and become worse and worse
When I started driving back in 1970, an “at fault” driver was given 3-5 points on their license. I’ve been in 2 crashes (Neither was my fault) since then and ZERO tickets were given! The cop only made out a report and left the scene! THAT is the problem!
