Miami, FL – News reports from Florida say at least four people are dead after a bridge collapse at Florida International University. The pedestrian span was still under construction when it collapsed Thursday, March 15, crushing several vehicles and trapping occupants. The National Transportation Safety Board is conducting an investigation into the incident with the assistance of local officials. The bridge was the property of the university.
HOLLYWOOD, MD – Just before 2:00 p.m., Thursday afternoon, a pedestrian bridge under construction in Miami, FL collapsed, trapping an undetermined number of people and cars.ย
The bridge was located on the Florida International University campus and was designed to connect the campus and a nearby suburb without hindering traffic flow.ย
The cause of the collapse is unknown at this time. Miami-Dade Fire and Rescue has confirmed multiple injuries on scene.ย
