INDIAN HEAD, Md. — Indian Head is stepping into the morning-show spotlight, and residents may want to set their alarms a little earlier.
FOX 5 DC has visited several Southern Maryland communities over the years, and the station will roll into Indian Head on Friday, July 31, for a live Zip Trip featuring local stories, hometown pride and plenty of early-morning fun.
The event will run from 8 to 11 a.m. at Village Green Park, located at 100 Walter Thomas Road. Residents are invited to meet FOX 5 personalities, join the crowd and watch as portions of the station’s morning show are broadcast live from Charles County.
FOX 5 says its Zip Trips bring games, trivia, performances, adoptable pets and other activities to communities across Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Previous stops this summer have included hometown trivia, local food tastings, first responder recognitions, community organizations, hometown teams and visits with animals looking for new homes.
The Indian Head event will also give local residents, businesses and organizations an opportunity to show viewers across the Washington region what makes the town special.
Anyone attending should be prepared for cameras, crowd participation and the possibility of appearing during a live segment.
Village Green Park is one of Indian Head’s main community gathering spaces. The 9.5-acre property includes a covered outdoor stage facing a large lawn and regularly hosts festivals, concerts and other town events.
Because the event begins at 8 a.m., residents hoping to be close to the broadcast area may want to arrive early.

Make A Morning Of It
Once the cameras stop rolling, visitors can keep exploring Indian Head.
The Indian Head Rail Trail offers 13 miles of paved space for walking, running and biking between Indian Head and White Plains.
Visitors can also head to the Indian Head Riverwatch Upland and Riverwalk at 165 Riverwatch Drive. The waterfront attraction includes a 1,200-foot nature walk through wooded property and a 1,200-foot boardwalk along the Potomac River shoreline.
Whether residents come to meet their favorite FOX 5 personalities, support a local business or simply wave from the crowd, Friday morning will give Indian Head a chance to shine throughout the region.
Indian Head is the only 2026 Zip Trip destination located in Charles, Calvert or St. Mary’s counties.
