WALDORF, Md. — Southern Maryland girls will have the chance to boost their confidence, find their voice and step into the spotlight at a special workshop this month. The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Southern Maryland Chapter, is hosting Fearless Voices, a free public speaking training for girls on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Charles County Public Library–West in Waldorf.
The program is designed for girls ages 11–18 and aims to equip participants with the confidence and practical skills needed to succeed as public speakers. The interactive session will include activities led by a guest speaker, peer-to-peer discussion groups and strategies to help strengthen communication skills.
Organizers said the training reflects the chapter’s broader mission to empower young women through education and leadership development.

Mission and Community Impact
The Southern Maryland Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women was founded in August 2023 and now includes more than 100 members. The chapter is part of a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with more than 60 chapters across the United States. Locally, the group supports national advocacy goals within the areas of health, economic empowerment, education and public policy.
Chapter leaders said their programs are designed to reflect the organization’s core values of gender equality, inclusion, racial and social justice, and collaboration, while creating opportunities for Black women and girls to thrive in their communities.
