
LA PLATA, Md. — The Town of La Plata will kick off its annual Summer Concert Series on Friday, May 22, offering a full season of free live music for the community.
The weekly concerts will take place every Friday through Aug. 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. on the lawn at La Plata Town Hall, located at 305 Queen Anne St.
The series will feature a wide variety of musical styles, including pop rock, R&B, Latin, jazz, soul, reggae and classic rock, along with performances from military bands and local favorites. Opening night will feature Girl Crush, a Top 40 cover band.
Concerts are free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. Food vendors will be on-site at each event, and coolers are permitted, although glass containers are discouraged.
Organizers note that concerts will be held rain or shine unless hazardous weather is forecast, and the schedule is subject to change. Pets, tents, vaping and alcohol are not allowed.
The Summer Concert Series has become a popular tradition in La Plata, drawing residents and visitors for a family-friendly way to kick off the weekend.
