At 10:43 a.m. Sept. 14, Charles County Sheriffโ€™s officers responded to EB Games located at 3067 Waldorf Market Place in Waldorf for the report of an armed robbery. A lookout was broadcast for a male suspect who fled the scene on a blue motorcycle and was reportedly armed with a gun.

Cpl. W. Welch located and attempted to stop two motorcycles on Route 301 near Smallwood Drive. One of the motorcycles stopped and the other, which matched the description of the suspect motorcycle, fled to University Drive near Greystone Circle before stopping. The driver fled on foot but was quickly apprehended.

He was identified as Thomas Darryl Strong, 32, of White Plains and was found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and fleeing and eluding.

Officers determined neither motorcycle driver had been involved in the reported armed robbery.

Detectives investigating the armed robbery later discovered the robbery suspect entered the store and asked a clerk to show him three Zune media players and a cell phone. After the clerk placed the items on the counter, the suspect asked to see another item.

When the clerk turned around, the suspect put the other media players in his jacket, left the store and fled on a blue motorcycle. The clerk reported the incident as an armed robbery but detectives discovered no weapon was used. It appears to be a shoplifting incident.

The suspect is described as a black male between 25 and 35 years old. He was wearing a blue motorcycle helmet, black motorcycle jacket, a long white T-shirt and black pants.

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office at 301-609-6513 or Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Det. C. Shankster is investigating.
