The Girls Basketball Playoffs are set to begin. This is the preview of these matchups

Patuxent Panthers at Calvert Cavaliers

In the first round matchup in the Girls Maryland 2A South region, the Lady Panthers of Patuxent travel the short drive up route 4 to take on Calvert. These two schools have played 3 times this season, and Calvert has won all 3 matchups by an average of 20.3 points per contest. Calvert features one senior on its team, and that is forward Brittany Purcell.

Patuxent managed one win on the season, and that was against La Plata. They were led in scoring by sophomore forward Maya Clark with 13.3 points per game. Her teammate Shannon Pitcher averaged 6.5 points per game.

Stone Cougars at Lackey Chargers

In the first round of the Maryland Girls 3A South region, the Stone Cougars will take the short drive to take on the Lackey Chargers. Stone comes into the playoffs with a 5-11 record overall, and a 3-4 record in conference. They are led in scoring by senior guard Jade Sink, with 13.9 points per game. Her teammate Mikayla Proctor also chipped in 10.8 points per game.

Lackey comes into the matchup a 7-12 record and a 7-7 record in conference. Their scoring attack is led by senior guard Amber Conyers with 21.3 points per game. Her teammate Deja Williams also chipped in 7.8 points per game.ย 

This game has no set time yet, but will be held at Lackey High School on February 27th. The winner of this matchup moves onto play Westlake.

La Plata Warriors at Chopticon Braves

In the first round of the Maryland Girls 3A South region, the winless La Plata Lady Warriors travel to Chopticon to take on the Braves. La Plata comes into play with leading scorers Jasmine Hill averaging 7 points per game, and her teammate Sierra Calomeris averages 6 points per game.

Chopticon comes into the matchup with a 14-8 overall record, and an 8-5 record in SMAC. The scoring attack is led by sophomore point guard Kyaira Priest, who is averaging 14.6 points per game, and sophomore center Shelby Johnson who is averaging 9.5 points per game.

The matchup is set to be played on February 27th, but has no set time. The winner of this game will play the winner of Potomac/Crossland.

Leonardtown Raiders at Annapolis Panthers

In the first round of the Maryland Girls 4A East region, the Leonardtown Raiders will travel to play Annapolis. Leonardtown comes into play with a 4-16 record overall, and a 3-9 record in conference. They are led in scoring by senior guard Aaliyah Fields, with 12.4 points per game. Her teammate Kayla Goldring had 9.8 points per game.

Annapolis comes into play with a 12-9 record overall, and a 9-8 record in conference. Their scoring attack is led by Kelly Johnson with 20.3 points per game, and Kayla Taylor with 15.5 points.

This game is set to be held at Annapolis High School on February 27th at 7 PM. The winner of this game is set to play at South River.

Broadneck Bruins at North Point Eagles

In the first round of the Maryland Girls 4A East region, the Bruins of Broadneck travel to take on the Eagles of North Point. The Bruins come into play with a 5-16 overall record, and a 4-12 conference record. Their scoring attack is led by junior center Savannah Clough with 9.6 points per game, and sophomore guard Autumn Fields with 9.1 points per game.

North Point comes into play with a 16-5 overall record, and a 9-2 record in conference. They are led in scoring by senior guard Jessica George with 12.0 points per game. Her teammate Necole Hope, a sophomore, also averaged 11.4 points per game.

This game is set to begin at 6 PM on February 27th at North Point High School. The winner of this game moves onto play Great Mills.
