Mechanicsville, MD— On Feb.28, Maryland State Police Trooper William Scarlett responded to Ellen Court in Mechanicsville for the report of two males fighting in the driveway.ย
When Scarlett arrived, he observed multiple subjects standing in the driveway. A male later identified as David A. Sachs, 51, of Mechanicsville was standing near the street yelling as I (Scarlett) exited my patrol vehicle. Sachs continued to yell stating, “he,” as Sachs pointed to the other male in the driveway.
According to the charging document, “Sachs was yelling “he assaulted my child then assaulted me.” I (Scarlett) identified the other male as Andrew M. Borza.” Scarlett continued his investigation. Sachs’ ex-wife stated two of her sons were arguingย in the house. ย
Borza grabbed one of the sons by his left earlobe and told him not to talk to his mother that way. According to charging documents, “When Sachs arrivedย to pick the kids up, one of the sons told Sachs what happened. Sachs then exited his vehicle and charged Borza stating ‘you will not treat my kids that way.’ ”ย
Sachs struck Borza with a closed fist twice in the head; Borza pushed Sachs away. Sachs then went to his vehicle and retrieved a hammer. Sachs charged toward Borza while swinging the hammer and yelling.ย
Borza stated, “Sachs swung the hammer twice almost striking him in the face,” according to charging documents. “From Sachs’ actions and demeanor and my (Scarlett) investigationย it was determined Sachs be the primary aggressor.”ย
Sachs was charged with first-degree assault and second-degree assault . At this time Sachs does not have a scheduled court date. Sachs faces a maximum jail sentence of 35 years and or a maximum fine of $2,500.ย
