The current extreme heat conditions expected today through the weekend may cause serious illness and is potentially life threatening.
The St. Mary’s County Health Department reminds citizens:
– If you or someone you know has a headache, confusion, dizziness, nausea or a rapid
heartbeat get immediate medical attention.
– Drink plenty of fluids like water, but avoid alcohol and caffeinated beverages.
– Never leave children or pets alone in a car.
– Stay in a cool place. If you do not have air conditioning where you live, Visit a movie
theater, stores, a friend or relative’s home or your local library.
– Please make sure you check in everyday if you or someone you know lives alone. Friends,
family and neighbors can provide assistance. Ask for help if you need it.
