Cobb Island: Last Thursday, March 8th at 12:02 p.m. an unconfirmed call reporting a helicopter crash into the Potomac River came into the Cobb Island Company 6 Volunteer Fire & Rescue Squad.
Cobb Island Company 6 and Marbury Company 8 both launched boats to the reported scene of the crash. The Charles County Volunteer Dive & Rescue Team also dispatched to the scene of the supposed crash between Colonial Beach and Cobb Island.
Rescue squads searched for an hour but found no indication of any downed aircraft. When further investigation revealed that no flight plans had even been filed for that area, therefore, no aircraft likely to have been there, the search ended.
