Last April, TheBAYNET.com reported that Paul D. Atkinson, after a short joyride through Lexington Park after crashing into the wall at Mr. Tire was arrested by Maryland State Police and charged with a litany of crimes including attempting to drive while impaired by alcohol and under the influence of alcohol, expired plates, negligent driving, driving on a suspended license and more.
ย At that time, Atkinson resisted arrest resulting from the man relieving his bowels during the arrest.
ย Apparently, even though the above cases are all active in the St. Maryโs District Court, Mr. Atkinson refuses to mend his ways.
ย Last night, Aug. 25, at 11:27 p.m. St. Maryโs County Sheriffs had the opportunity to experience Atkinsonโs propensity to not only drive on a suspended license while under the influence, but his proclivity for bowel relief during an arrest.
ย Sheriffโs Deputy Cpl. Christopher Morley pursued Atkinsonโs vehicle after noticing the vehicle was acting erratically and striking a curb in the area of Great Mills Road and Old Great Mills Road. When pulled over, Atkinson fell out of the car and could not walk or stand.
ย Cpl. Morley was then assisted by three other sheriffโs units who had to carry Atkinson because he refused to walk as was the case last April. The deputies had to call for an ambulance because Atkinson, once again relieved his bowels.
ย Atkinson is now residing for a while at the St. Maryโs County Detention Center awaiting his fate. At this point the charges pending are DUI and more, including, once again, driving on a suspended license. This time, in addition to everything else, Atkinson is looking at drug charges as well.
