WALDORF, Md. – A house fire in Waldorf displaced a family from their home Monday, Jan. 28, officials say. 

Around 6:30 p.m., units responded to the 800 block of Barrington Drive in Waldorf for the report of a structure fire. Crews led by the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene of a one and a half story home with showing through the roof. Firefighters worked quickly and had the scene under control in 15 minutes. Authorities say an estimated $250,000 worth of damage was caused to the home. 

The family was displaced as a result of the fire are being assisted by the American Red Cross. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
