ANNAPOLIS, MD – Sept. 21, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) met with Dr. Robert Caret, the new chancellor of the University System of Maryland (USM). Robert Caret became USM’s fourth chancellor on July 1, 2015. He is a former president of Towson University in Towson, Maryland.

“I was pleased to meet with Dr. Caret today to discuss a number of higher education priorities in the state of Maryland, including the third building project at the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center,” stated Congressman Steny Hoyer. “The University System of Maryland is the 12th largest university system in America and has become a national model for excellence in higher education, research, and innovation. I appreciated hearing Dr. Caret’s plans on how he will continue to build on this progress and how his passion and dedication to higher education will enable us to maintain and improve the system.
