Hundreds of people visited the new firehouse for the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department on Sunday afternoon next to the Lexington Park Library on South Shangri-La Drive.

After watching a symbolic parade from the old firehouse on South Coral Drive to the new quarters, residents strolled around the expansive garage bays then filed into the large community room for the dedication ceremony.

After numerous speakers, pictures, presentations, congratulations and a plaque unveiling for Robert and Joyce Gabrelcik, who provided the 6 acres for half price, the party moved out front again for the ribbon cutting.
