The McDonough Rams (2-A Division) and Huntingtown Hurricanes (3-A Division) will represent the Southern Marylandย Athletic Confrence this weekend with McDonough (11-1) traveling to play Queen Annes County (12-0) and Huntingtown (9-3)ย heading to Baltimore County to face The Franklin Indians (10-2).

Huntingtown started off their season winning their first two games over LaPlata and Northern but, struggled the next two weeks, losing at Chopticon and atย home against Westlake. After a 50-13 rout of county rival Calvert, the Hurricanes won seven of the last eight games including their two playoff matchups inย convincing fashion. As the #4 seed in the playoffs they knocked off #1 seed Westlake 35-14 and whipped #3 seed Friendly 52-16.

The offense is led by Senior QB Justin Bittner, and RB’s Davonte Fletcher (202 carries 1,355 yards 12 TD’s) and Andrew Bose. After an injury to Fletcher,ย Bose took over gaining 709 yards and scoring 15 TD’s in the last four games. This has meant a ball control offence for Coach Jerry Franks as this has allowedย domination with Bittner only needing to throw the ball 12 times in the last four games. Bose also leads the team in tackles as a strong linebacker.

Franklin won it’s first seven games before losing two straight to Hereford 14-6 and Parkville 14-7. They won their last three including playoff wins againstย Hereford 47-14 and North Hartford 28-21. The Indians are led by RB/LB M Venable who rushed for 927 yards on 147 carries, had 17 catches for 320 yardsย and scored a total of 14 TD’s to lead the team. Venable also led the team in tackles with 134 stops. QB J Dorsey is a team leader as well completing 53 percentย of his passes for 1902 yards, 19 TD passes and only 7 interceptions. His favorite receiver is I Thomas who led the team with 42 catches for 868 yards and 13 TD’s.

The winner will face the winner of the Damascus (12-0) vs Wilde Lake (9-3) game in the 3-A State Championship game Thursday December 2, 2010 at M7T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.

Baynet Radio will be the only radio station with the game being broadcast live with coverage beginning tonight at 6:30pm. John Hunt will bring the play by playย action with color commentary by Baltimore native, Paul Clary.ย

Good luck to both McDonough and Huntingtown!ย
