The Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office is seeking the identity of two witnesses who helped rescue a woman from a burning car. Officers say the rescuersโ€™ actions may have saved the young womanโ€™s life.

ย On Jan. 30 at 4:30 p.m., a 19-year-old woman was traveling on Piney Church Road in Waldorf when she lost control of her vehicle and struck a tree. The car caught on fire, but the victim was unable to escape because her legs were partially pinned underneath the steering wheel.
ย
Two citizens who were in the area pulled the victim to safety. Emergency responders extinguished the fire and the victim was transported to a nearby hospital where she was admitted with serious injuries. The rescuers left the scene before anyone could get their names.
ย
Investigators would like to acknowledge the heroic actions taken by the two rescuers and ask that anyone with information call Officer W. Saunders of the Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office at (301) 932-2222.
