LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — Pickleball players and curious newcomers alike will soon have a new place to play as St. Mary’s County Recreation & Parks rolls out indoor pickleball at the Carver Recreation Center.
The launch begins with a free, drop-in Open House on Tuesday, Jan. 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., giving residents a chance to test the courts, swing a paddle, and see what the fast-growing sport is all about. Two gymnasium courts will be set up for pickleball, with play available on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the morning.
Following the preview event, indoor pickleball officially becomes part of Carver’s regular lineup. Starting Monday, Jan. 12, the courts will be available by reservation on Mondays and Tuesdays, offering players a warm, weather-proof option during colder months.

Drop-in play will cost $8 per county resident for a two-hour block, and frequent players can opt for a punch pass for added savings.
Reservations can be made online through the county’s recreation portal at
https://secure.rec1.com/MD/st-marys-county-md/catalog. Players should look under the Indoor Facility Rentals tab to find the pickleball court listings.
Additional details about the Carver Recreation Center, including facility information, are available at

With free introductory play and expanded indoor options, county officials say the new courts are aimed at welcoming everyone from seasoned competitors to first-time players ready to see what the pickleball buzz is all about.
