Huntingtown, MD – A motorist involved in a single-vehicle accident in Calvert County Saturday afternoon, Dec. 27 is facing drug charges, police reported.
According to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office, the driver, identified as Robert Edward Masincupp of Huntingtown, was traveling on Hardesty Road near Buckley Road in Huntingtown around 12:30 p.m., when the vehicle veered off the road and struck a utility pole.
Fire and rescue crews responded and Masincupp was transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital.
According to Lt. Todd Ireland of the sheriff’s Patrol Division, suspected heroin was located in the vehicle. Masincupp was charged with driving under the influence and possession of drugs/paraphernalia, Ireland stated.
As a result of the crash Hardesty Road was closed for several hours. A few nearby homes were without electricity as the utility pole was replaced.
