Jury Finds 21-Year-Old Guilty In Fatal Robbery Of Glen Burnie Man

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A Somerset County man has been found guilty of first-degree felony murder and robbery in connection with the 2021 shooting death of a Glen Burnie man, Anne Arundel County prosecutors announced Friday, Nov. 7, 2025.

A jury in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court convicted Andy Daniel Aguilar-Amaya, 21, of Westover, following a multi-day trial. He was charged in May 2024 and later indicted by a county grand jury on June 14, 2024. Sentencing before Judge Pamela Alban is set for Jan. 7, 2026.

According to the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office, Aguilar-Amaya fatally shot 26-year-old Gene Fayga Martin during a robbery on Oct. 21, 2021, on Beach Road in Glen Burnie. Officers who responded to the scene found Martin lying in the roadway near his 2016 Acura sedan with two gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled his death a homicide.

Investigators recovered 9mm shell casings near the vehicle and lifted fingerprints and a palm print from the car. The palm print matched Aguilar-Amaya, police said. Witnesses reported hearing two gunshots and seeing a silver sedan flee the area. One witness told detectives that Martin had planned to meet “Ando,” later identified as Aguilar-Amaya, and another man for a drug transaction. Detectives concluded that Aguilar-Amaya intended to rob Martin of cash and drugs.

“The defendant killed the victim during the course of a robbery, thereby making this a felony first-degree murder,” said State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess. “Our laws are meant to deter people from committing dangerous felonies where death of any person is a foreseeable result. I am glad the jury saw this clearly, and their verdict will provide some peace for Mr. Martin’s family.”

The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorneys Dave Russell and Jeremy Whitlock and investigated by the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
