LARGO, Md. — Prince George’s County officials have announced a new ownership group for the former Six Flags America property, marking a major step forward in efforts to redevelop one of the region’s largest and most prominent sites.
County Executive Aisha N. Braveboy confirmed that Kevin Durant’s 35V and TPA Group are part of the investment team that has acquired the 515-acre property, which closed permanently in November 2025 after decades of operation.
Kevin Durant, a Prince George’s County native and NBA superstar, is one of the most recognizable athletes from the region and a two-time NBA champion.
“We are excited about the vision, energy, and opportunity this new ownership team brings to the former Six Flags site,” Braveboy said. “This is a major step forward for Prince George’s County and a meaningful opportunity to elevate this property into a destination development that reflects the expectations of our residents and strengthens economic development in our County.”
The amusement park, which operated in the county for more than 40 years, generated approximately $3 million in annual revenue but was limited by its seasonal business model. Its closure sparked widespread speculation about the future of the land and how it could better serve the county’s long-term economic goals.
County leaders have emphasized the need for a year-round destination that would increase tax revenue and provide more consistent economic activity.
Plans for the site call for a mixed-use redevelopment, though specific details have not yet been finalized. Officials say the project could include entertainment venues, retail, upscale dining, and potentially sports-related attractions.
Braveboy also emphasized the importance of community input as planning moves forward.
“Our residents deserve to be part of what comes next,” she said. “We look forward to working with the new ownership team and with the community to help create a destination and attraction that residents can enjoy, experience, and take pride in for years to come.”
In partnership with the new ownership group, the county plans to host public engagement events to gather feedback and help shape the future of the site.
With its size, location, and visibility, officials say the redevelopment of the former Six Flags property is expected to be one of the most significant economic development projects in Prince George’s County in recent years.
