La Plata, Md. — At approximately 5:30 PM, yesterday evening, emergency crews responded to a working house fire on Scarlet Oak Rd in La Plata. The fire reportedly originated in the garage and spread to the home. Early reports suggest an open flame and the possibility of a dog trapped inside.

Firefighters attacked the fire from multiple angles, working to prevent further damage to the structure. Traffic in the area may be impacted as crews continue their efforts.
