The Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office Major Crimes Unit is conducting an investigation into an assault that occurred early Saturday morning in which the victim, Joshua Matthew Gregor, 25 of La Plata, later died.

The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
On Oct. 25, at 2 a.m., the victim was in the parking lot of Don Savinoโ€™s Bar and Grill located at 2427 Crain Highway in Waldorf when he was approached by two suspects who struck him several times in the head. The victim fell to the ground and lost consciousness. He was flown to Prince Georgeโ€™s Hospital Center where he was admitted with life threatening injuries.

The suspects, Justin Burch Ferrall, 30, and Brian Anthony Hickman, 28, both of St. Maryโ€™s County, fled but were arrested a short distance away. Both men were charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault and disorderly conduct. The victim was pronounced deceased by doctors at Prince Georgeโ€™s Hospital on Oct. 27.

On todayโ€™s date, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore performed an autopsy and ruled the manner of death a homicide. Additional charges are pending the outcome of the investigation and a case review by the Stateโ€™s Attorneyโ€™s Office.ย ย
