La Plata Roy Rogers Closes, Staff Reassigned To Nearby Locations

LA PLATA, Md. — The Roy Rogers restaurant in La Plata has officially closed after its final day of business on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

When The BayNet visited the restaurant Wednesday, April 1, staff confirmed the location had served its last customers the day before. By the next day, equipment, supplies and dining room items were being packed into vans as the restaurant shut down operations. Crews were also seen covering signage and preparing the property for vacancy, including placing blank panels over the Roy Rogers sign while other materials were being removed from the building.

Employees who were not authorized to speak publicly said some workers are being reassigned to other nearby locations, including the Roy Rogers in Waldorf and the Solomons area.

  • Roy Rogers, 2690 Crain Highway, Waldorf, MD
  • Roy Rogers, 14000 H.G. Trueman Road, Solomons, MD

Staff also said they were told the property had been sold. However, no official confirmation has been provided regarding the sale or what business may replace the restaurant.
