Morganza, Md. – On May 20 at about 3:40 a.m. several suspects broke into Chopticon High School through an exterior door and released 72,000 ladybugs throughout the school.

The suspects are believed to have bought the bugs on the internet and planned to release them as a senior prank.

St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office PIO, Cara Grumbles told The BayNet that four male seniors have been charged with 4th degree burglary, Property Destruction Under $1,000 and disruption of school activities.

All four students have been released to their parents. The three remaining adult suspects have charges that are to be served through a criminal summons.

The investigation was conducted by Corporal Holton, School Resource Officer assigned to the school.
