Last call! Today, December 2, is the final day for artists to register as a vendor for “A Holiday Arts Faire” being held at the Kris Kringle Christmas Market at the Charles County Fairgrounds, located at 8440 Fairground Road in La Plata, on December 6-7, 2013. The Charles County Arts Alliance is presenting this brand-new “indoor arts festival” to celebrate the holiday season in Charles County, and provide an opportunity for local visual and literary artists to sell original works and handcrafted items to the shopping public – just in time for Christmas! The hours for the Christmas Market are 4:00 – 9:00 pm on Friday, December 6; and 9:00 am – 9:00 pm on Saturday, December 7. This exciting new Charles County holiday shopping experience is only 4 days away, and we only have 4 vendor spaces left!
“A Holiday Arts Faire” is envisioned as an “indoor winter ArtsFest” to complement the Charles County Arts Alliance’s “outdoor summer ArtsFest” that takes place in June each year. It provides a unique opportunity for shoppers to meet the artists and authors in person, and purchase one-of-a-kind items that will be treasured keepsakes in the years to come.
The Kris Kringle Christmas Market is part of the Charles County Holiday Trail 2013, an initiative of community-minded citizens and nonprofit organizations in Charles County. From December 6-8, two contemporary sites and seven of the area’s historic sites will be open to the public and invite visitors to travel back through the centuries to experience everything from Christmas in Early America to the holiday season during Victorian times. The registration fee for artist vendor booths is $75 for the two days and is non-refundable. The CCAA does not charge a commission, and all sales tax must be collected by the artist. All visual artworks must be original or reproductions of the original by the artist (e.g., prints and stationery). All literary works must be by the author. No resales nor sales of manufactured or imported products will be permitted. Space is limited to 25 booths and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The spaces are 8′ x 8′ in size, and electricity is available upon request. Artist vendors must provide all tables, chairs and display hardware.
