
LEONARDTOWN, Md. – The Town of Leonardtown’s Election was held on May 7, 2024. This election was held to choose who would be the town’s Mayor and to fill two council seats for the next four years.
According to the Town of Leonardtown, there were 375 ballots cast in person at the Town Hall. 17 of those were absentee ballots.
For a little over an hour, Katie Werner and Ernie Bell read each ballot that was cast, with Tommy McKay overseeing the count. Town Administrator Laschelle McKay along with a group of town staff counted the votes.
The results of the election are as follows:
Mayor
Dan Burris: 295
Ken Held:96
Council Members
Nick Colvin: 317
Jay Mattingly: 342
It is important to note that both Colvin and Mattingly ran unopposed.
“I’m incredibly proud and honored to serve on the Leonardtown Council for the next four years. The voter turnout was amazing, and it’s a true testament to the vibrant and thriving community we’ve built together,” Mattingly shared via a Facebook post.

I also want to express my gratitude to Ken Held for stepping up and running for office in Leonardtown. It takes a strong community to make a difference, and I truly believe that by working together, we can continue to build on our successes and shape the future of Leonardtown.
